AI Tools Weekly — Issue #1

Hi there, and welcome to the first issue. Every week we pick the AI launches that actually matter for people who use AI at work, and skip the rest. Five minutes, no hype.

The big three this week

1. Google introduces "Gemini agent" for work. At Gemini at Work 2026 (Oct 8), Google Cloud announced Gemini agent, a single agent for work that runs inline in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive and Calendar, plus new data-analytics skills and spend controls. Why it matters: if your team lives in Google Workspace, this could be the most useful AI you already pay for. Google Cloud blog

2. Microsoft ships a streaming transcription model. On Oct 1, Microsoft AI launched MAI-Transcribe-2-Streaming, which it says debuted at No. 1 on Artificial Analysis, alongside the MAI-Voice-2.1 and MAI-Voice-2.1-Flash voice models. Why it matters: real-time transcription keeps getting faster and better, which is good news for meeting tools and voice agents. Microsoft AI

3. Comfy Agent opens to everyone in Comfy Cloud. The ComfyUI team says its agent can plan, build and fix ComfyUI workflows on your canvas. Why it matters: ComfyUI's power has always come with a steep learning curve; an agent could make it accessible to far more creators. Comfy
